Who manages your affiliate program?

By Ryan Mac Geoghegan, OfferForge Network Manager

Alright, so you have launched your affiliate program last month and you were expecting a massive uptake by affiliates which was going to result in sales flying in. Rather, quite the opposite has happened. There has been little-to-no uptake from affiliates and as a direct result the sales figures are as unflattering as an elephant in a Speedo. (more…)

Does OfferForge charge affiliates to join their network?

By Ryan Mac Geoghegan, OfferForge Network Manager

OfferForge does not charge affiliates to join the network of 1 000’s of affiliates, it’s absolutely FREE. OfferForge also does not charge affiliates any kind of fee to run any of the available campaigns.

Just because it is free to join OfferForge, it does not mean that there are no costs involved in setting up and taking your first step in becoming a top earning affiliate. Affiliate marketing takes time (opportunity cost), patience and money to build a successful website. The good news is the barrier to entry in becoming an affiliate marketer is pretty low, but it does take time and effort and the capital needed to start out on your road of affiliate marketing is a lot cheaper to get setup in comparison to starting many other types of businesses.

Below is an example of the costs you may incur to begin affiliate marketing. I have assumed that you already have access to a computer and internet connection.

  • Website hosting – R20 to R100 a month
  • Domain name – R150 a year

Once you’ve setup your website and you are ready to starting earning, you will need to register at the following URL https://offerforge.com/publishers/

Keep in mind, you will need to be the owner of the website and the domain name needs to be a high level domain.

An example would be
www.domain.com / www.domain.co.za / www.domain.info
NOT
www.wix.com/freewebsite OR www.blogger.com/freewebsite

Once you have registered with OfferForge and been accepted you will have to devise a plan to get traffic.

The most common types of online traffic comes from websites, niche blogs and social media channels but affiliate are not limited to only these 3 channels.

The more advanced affiliate also leverage email and SMS marketing, where affiliates use their websites and blogs to build a database so that they can engage their audience with personalised messaging via email and/or SMS and not just through banner ads.

There are many ways to get traffic to your website, some are free (but take time), while others will vary quite drastically in cost. We will dedicate another blog on ‘getting traffic’ as this is a very broad topic to cover.

To end off, don’t get caught in the common misconception that affiliate marketing is easy and now that you have a website things will just happen overnight. Just like any other business you need to put in a lot of hard work, time, energy and rely on a little bit of luck!
